Mangaluru, June 11, 2020: The second railway underpass which is in the final stages of construction on the National Highway at Padil and was getting ready for inauguration has suffered a big setback with a portion of the underpass sinking right in the middle where a big hole has now appeared.
The project was limping since the last two years. During the final phase of the project, a nearly three feet deep hole has appeared while levelling the road in a roller. It is believed that those constructing the underpass had not taken cognizance fo the fact that there was an underground drainage beneath the underpass.
The underpass project was taken up at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
