Kundapur, Aug 30, 2025: A 46-year-old woman from Bengaluru has gone missing near the Souparnika river in Kollur, raising concerns and speculation about her mysterious disappearance.

The missing woman, identified as Vasudha Chakravarthy, daughter of C.R. Govindaraju from Tyagarajanagar, Bengaluru, had arrived in Kollur on August 28. After parking her car near a private lodge, she visited the temple, offered prayers at the sanctum of Lord Anjaneya, and later proceeded to other shrines. She was last seen heading towards the Souparnika river.

Missing

Police and locals launched extensive search operations, but no trace of her has been found. Her car contained her mobile phone and other belongings, which helped authorities confirm her identity and notify her family.

CCTV cameras near the river captured Vasudha swimming deep into the waters. A trained swimmer, she was seen covering a considerable distance, but it remains unclear whether she reached the shore or was swept away by the river’s strong currents.

Expert divers, including Ishwar Malpe, along with fire and emergency services, scoured different stretches of the river. However, with no leads by evening, the search was temporarily called off.

Her family members rushed to Kollur upon receiving the news. According to relatives, Vasudha, who is married and works abroad, had recently been visiting various pilgrim centers alone and had developed a strong interest in meditation.

Police have appealed to the public to share any information with Kollur police station.
