Mangaluru, September 4, 2023: A huge protest was held at Belthangady on September 3, Sunday demanding justice to Sowjanya. The protest organised by the Prajaprabhutva Vedike and Rashtriya Hindu Jagarana Vedike was inaugurated by Sri Dharmapalanatha Swamiji of Mangaluru Branch of Adichunchanagiri Mutt.
In his address, the Swamiji pledged his full support to the movement demanding justice to Sowjanya, added that the investigation done so far has failed to deliver justice. He also demanded a narco analysis test of the investigation officer as well as the doctor who did the post-mortem of Sowjanya’s body.
The Swamiji further demanded assistance to Santosh Rao who was acquitted in the case. He also sought protection to the family of Sowjanya.
Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, President of the Prajaprabhutva Vedike reiterated his demand for justice in the case and said a state level protest would be organised in the days to come.
Sowjanya’s mother Kusumavathi Gowda who also spoke said she felt overwhelmed on seeing the huge crowd in support of the cause and exuded confidence of securing justice in the case.
Social activist Prasanna Ravi, lawyer Mohit Kumar, Tammanna Shetty and many others addressed the protest meet.
