Belthangady entrepreneur dies after consuming poison, a month after registered marriage

Belthangady, Mar 30, 2026: A young entrepreneur from Belthangady, who had entered into a registered marriage just a month ago, has died after allegedly consuming poison along with food. He passed away at a hospital in Mangaluru where he had been undergoing treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Sudeep Rai (36), a resident of Nelyadi. He was staying at his grandfather’s house in Karnodi, Layila village in Beltangady taluk. Sudeep had married a young woman from Karkala taluk at the sub-registrar’s office on February 17.

He was running an electronics and solar business under the name SRN Group in Beltangady. It is reported that he consumed poison on March 17 and was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. However, he succumbed to his condition on March 29 despite treatment.
