Belthangady: Woman dies of venomous snake bite

Belthangady, December 22, 2025: A 55-year-old woman died after being bitten by a venomous snake while working in a plantation at Shishila village in the taluk on December 21.

The deceased has been identified as Prema (55), a resident of Gudde Thota in Shishila village. She was reportedly engaged in plantation work in the afternoon when a cobra bit her.

Immediately after the incident, with the help of members of the Shaurya Disaster Response Team, Prema was rushed to the Puttur Government Hospital. However, she succumbed to the severe effects of the venom, sources said.

She is survived by her daughter and son.
