Belthangady: Thieves break into 10 shops in one night, escape with cash worth lakhs

Belthangady, May 19, 2026: A major theft spree was reported in the Belthangady town area after burglars broke into around ten shops and offices during the night and escaped with cash amounting to several lakhs of rupees.

The thieves targeted Samruddhi Enterprises located in the Dharmashree Building on Court Road and reportedly stole nearly Rs 1.5 lakh in cash. In an attempt to erase evidence, the burglars damaged the CCTV cameras installed at the premises and fled with the memory card.

The miscreants also broke into the office of TH Real Estate, the office of the building owner, and the offices of advocates Radhakrishna, Usha N. G., and Yatish Shetty P., all situated in the same building.

In another incident, the burglars entered Mathrushree Hotel near Moorumargha and stole Rs 5,000 kept in a cash box and another Rs 2,000 from a drawer. They also targeted nearby Sabari Enterprises and escaped with around Rs 2,000 in cash.

Additionally, locks of the offices of advocate Jayarama Maniyani, M/s Himalaya Finance and Investment, and advocate Jitesh K. were broken open during the theft spree.

Police officials visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and have launched an investigation into the incidents.
