Belthangady: SIT submits 3,923-page interim report in Dharmasthala mass burial case

Belthangady, Nov 21, 2025: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the much-discussed Dharmasthala mass burial case submitted its investigation report to the Belthangady court on Thursday. The SIT has now named six individuals, including the original complainants Chinnayya and Mahesh Shetty Timarodi—who have now turned accused—under Section 215 for providing false evidence.

According to SIT officials, the six accused in the case are:
Chinnayya (currently in jail), Mahesh Shetty Timarodi, Girish Mattannavar, Jayanth T., Vittal Gowda, and Sujatha Bhatt. The SIT investigation officer Jitendra Kumar Dayama, along with his team, submitted the ‘false evidence’ report under Section 215 before Vijayendra H.T., Additional Civil Judge, Beltangady, at around 3:15 pm today.

The SIT’s interim report spans approximately 3,923 pages. It is learned that the report also notes that five of the accused have not been cooperating with the investigation. The SIT has requested the court to examine the submitted report and issue further directions for the next stages of the probe.

Once the investigation of the entire case is completed, the SIT is expected to file the final charge sheet before the court in the coming days.
