Belthangady: Pickup overturns at Charmadi Ghat curve, over 10 seriously injured

Belthangady, Apr 22, 2026: A horrific accident occurred at the sixth curve of the Charmadi Ghat road in Dakshina Kannada district. A pickup vehicle carrying more than 25 passengers overturned, leaving over 10 people seriously injured.

The injured include passengers from Andhra Pradesh and Ballari, sources said. The severity of the accident created panic at the scene.

Rescue operations were launched immediately with the help of locals. The injured were shifted to the hospital using the SKSSF Kakkinje ambulance, Charmadi Hasanabba’s team, Rajyotsava Seva ambulance, as well as auto-rickshaws and private vehicles.

All the injured have been admitted to the Belthangady Government Hospital. Some are reported to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment. Advocate Ayaz, son of Hasanabba, provided the information. Police have registered a case and are investigating further.
