Beltangady, May 11, 2026: A patient who had been admitted for treatment at the government hospital in Belthangady was found dead in the hospital premises, with allegations emerging that negligence by hospital staff led to the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Achyutha (42), a resident of Pelattaje in Puduvettu village. He had been admitted to the Belthangady taluk public government hospital on May 10 afternoon following complaints of stomach pain.
According to reports, Achyutha went out of the hospital alone at around 5 am on Monday and later collapsed near the dialysis centre located behind the hospital building. He was found dead there.
Members of the public have alleged that hospital staff were negligent in allowing a patient undergoing treatment to leave the ward unattended, leading to his death.
Achyutha belonged to a poor family. His wife works as a daily wage labourer and the couple has two children.
