
Belthangady, Jun 25, 2026: Chandrashekhar, a pharmacy officer attached to the Government Hospital in Belthangady, has been placed under suspension following allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him by a female outsourced employee.
According to official sources, a complaint was filed on June 11 alleging that Chandrashekhar had sexually harassed a woman employee working at the Belthangady Taluk Hospital.
Following the complaint, the Internal Complaints Committee conducted a meeting and recommended disciplinary action against the pharmacy officer under the relevant provisions of law. Authorities examined the documents submitted in connection with the case, including the FIR and written statements of witnesses. The committee also noted the complainant’s absence during the inquiry proceedings.
After reviewing the available records, the authorities concluded that there was a prima facie case against Chandrashekhar. His actions were found to be in violation of Rules 3(1), 3(2), and 3(3) of the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2021, and were deemed unbecoming of a government servant.
Pending a departmental inquiry, it was decided to place him under suspension.
Dr. Rajani M., Director of Health and Family Welfare Services, has issued orders suspending Chandrashekhar from government service with immediate effect on charges of misconduct, negligence, and dereliction of duty. The suspension order also stipulates that he shall not leave the headquarters during the suspension period without prior permission from the competent authority.
