Belthangady: FIR filed against over 20 people, including Soujanya’s mother, for holding unauthorised gathering

Belthangady, Oct 29, 2025: Police have registered a suo motu case against more than 20 individuals, including Soujanya’s mother, Kusumavathi, for allegedly holding an unlawful gathering in front of the Belthangady Mini Vidhana Soudha on October 27, despite not having permission for the event. The group is accused of causing inconvenience to the public.

The programme was reportedly planned to submit a memorandum to the government through the Tahsildar, alleging that police were filing false cases against activists supporting Soujanya. However, permission for the gathering was denied by the authorities since a related case regarding an externment order against Mahesh Shetty Timarodi was still pending before the High Court.


Unlawful Gathering-FIR

Despite the denial, the activists gathered near the Mini Vidhana Soudha and attempted to submit the memorandum, leading to a brief commotion when police intervened to stop them.

Based on a complaint by ASI Durgadas, Belthangady Police registered a case against the accused under IPC Sections 189(2), 190, 285, 57 of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963, and Sections 31(o) and 103(ii).

The accused include: Kusumavathi (Soujanya’s mother), Anil Kumar Antar (President, National Hindu Jagarana Vedike), Prajwal Gowda, Pradeep Kulal, Srinivas Gowda, Ravindra Shetty, Prasanna Ravi, Uday Prasad, Venkappa Kotyan, Tanush Shetty, Mohan Shetty, Jayaram Gowda, Santosh Shetty, Pramod Shetty, Yogeesh Kulal, Naravi Vijaya, Ravindra Shetty Mudipu, Shashikala Shetty, Poojashree Dharmasthala, Tikki Ravi, and others.

Police have taken up further investigation.
