Belthangady: Case filed over house demolition and destruction of belongings

Belthangady, Feb 28, 2026: A case has been registered at the Belthangady Police Station against a man for allegedly demolishing a house, destroying household belongings, and threatening a minor girl in Ujire village of the taluk.

The house belonged to Rajeevi, a resident of Kakkarebettu in Ujire village. She had constructed the house on government land bearing Survey No. 406/1 and was living there with her husband and daughter.

The accused, identified as Rafeeq, a resident of Odal, allegedly demolished the house and threw the household items onto the street.

According to the complaint, on the morning of February 27, when Rajeevi and her husband had gone to work, Rafeeq allegedly noticed that no one was at home, unlawfully entered the premises, damaged the house, and removed items including a television, refrigerator, gas cylinder, furniture, clothes, and grocery provisions, throwing them onto the street.

It is further alleged that when the couple’s daughter tried to record a video of the incident, Rafeeq threatened her. Frightened, the girl began crying loudly, prompting neighbours Thyagaraj and Jaya to rush to the spot. When they questioned his actions, he allegedly abused them in foul language and issued threats, the complaint stated.

The Beltangady police visited the scene, conducted an inspection, and registered a case.
