
Belthangady, Jun 25, 2026: A seven-year-old boy who sustained severe burn injuries after a scooter caught fire on a road in Minandelu of Belalu village in Belthangady taluk on June 12 succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday despite undergoing treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Diyan (7), son of retired Army personnel Mohan Gowda Kadanda, a resident of Belalu. Diyan was a student of a private English-medium school in Ujire.
The incident occurred when Mohan Gowda was travelling with his son on a scooter. Due to a suspected technical fault, the vehicle suddenly caught fire in the middle of the road, causing severe burn injuries to the boy. He was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment but failed to respond and passed away.
Mohan Gowda Kadanda also sustained injuries in the incident and has since recovered.
