Belthangady: Autorickshaw overturns near Ujire; driver seriously injured

Ujire, April 19, 2025: An autorickshaw overturned and fell into a roadside drain near the under-construction culvert close to Benaka Hospital on the Ujire-Belthangady road late Thursday night, leaving the driver seriously injured.

The driver, identified as 65-year-old Ahmad, was en route to Ujire when the accident occurred. He sustained severe injuries and was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Ujire for treatment.

Dhanesh, a local resident of Ujire who was traveling behind the autorickshaw, along with other bystanders, rushed to Ahmad’s aid. They helped rescue him from the drain and assisted in transporting him to the hospital.
