
Belthangady, Nov 13, 2025: Venur Police have arrested a man accused of breaking into a house in Kuththuru and stealing gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees. The arrested accused has been identified as Itthe Barpe Abubakkar (71).
Between October 2 and October 6, gold jewellery worth around ₹9.5 lakh was stolen from the house of Avinash, a teacher residing at Manjushree Nagar in Kuththuru, Naravi village, while the family was away. A case was registered at the Venur Police Station.
During an investigation, police apprehended the accused. On the night of November 11, Sub-Inspector Oman and his team from Venur Police Station were conducting vehicle checks near Kumbhashree, Venur, when they stopped a suspicious scooter rider, identified as Abubakkar. Upon checking his documents and questioning him, it was revealed that he was involved in thefts in Mangaluru.
When interrogated at the police station, Abubakkar confessed to committing the theft at Avinash’s residence in Kuththuru, Naravi. He was produced before the Belthangady court on November 12 and has been remanded to three days of police custody for further investigation.
Police sources said the accused had earlier served a two-month jail term for a theft in Shirva, Udupi district, and had recently been released. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Belthangady Inspector Subbapur Math, led by SI Oman and his Venur police team.
