Belthangady: 61-year-old man arrested for alleged sexual harassment of young woman

Belthangady, Oct 26, 2026: Venur police have arrested Isaac (61), a resident of Venur, for allegedly sexually harassing a young woman by making obscene remarks in a public place and offering her money.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, the incident occurred on the afternoon of October 24, when she was at work within the jurisdiction of Venur police station. The accused allegedly arrived at the spot on a two-wheeler and harassed her.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 75(1)(ii), 75(1)(iv) and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015.

Police have taken the accused into custody for questioning. Further legal action will follow, and he will be produced before the court, police said.
