Belthangady: 21-year-old youth drowns while swimming in river

Belthangady, Oct 21, 2026: A 21-year-old youth drowned while swimming in a river at Parpikallu in Nidle village on the afternoon of October 20.

The deceased has been identified as Keerthan, son of Janardhan Gowda, a resident of Moodubail in Kouk r adi village.

Keerthan had gone to Parpikallu with his friends to bathe in the river. While swimming, he reportedly drowned after failing to realise the depth of the water.

Local residents immediately retrieved his body from the river and shifted it to the Belthangady Government Hospital.

Dharmasthala police visited the spot and are conducting an investigation.
