Beltangady: Two held in raid on illegal beef unit; 91 kg meat seized

Beltangady, Oct 29, 2025: The Beltangady police raided an illegal beef processing unit operating inside a shed in a private rubber plantation near Bedrabetu in Indabettu village. Two persons were arrested, and 91 kg of beef along with tools used for meat processing were seized.

The arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Nazir (36) of Bedrabetu, Indabettu village, and Zakariya (36) of Mittabagilu village.


Illegal beef unit

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Inspector Subbapur Math by PSI Anand M of Beltangady Police Station and PSI Oman of Venoor Police Station along with their teams.

According to police sources, the accused were allegedly stealing cattle, slaughtering them illegally, and selling the meat. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted the raid around 2:30 pm on October 27, seizing 91 kg of beef, knives, and other related materials.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady Police Station under the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020.
