
Belthangady, Jun 11, 2026: Dharmasthala police have arrested a rural postal distributor on charges of allegedly raping a married woman.
The accused has been identified as Suresh (35), a resident of Kuthodi in Kalenja village. He was employed as a rural postal distributor in Arasinamakki village.
According to the police, a married woman residing within the jurisdiction of the Dharmasthala police station lodged a complaint on June 7, alleging that Suresh had sexually assaulted her in December 2023. Based on the complaint, a case was registered and the accused was taken into custody.
Following interrogation, Suresh was produced before the court in Belthangady, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
The arrest operation was carried out under the guidance of Belthangady subdivision DySP Rohini C.K. and the leadership of circle inspector Ravi B.S. The team included Dharmasthala police station in-charge sub-inspector Kishore P., sub-inspector Samarth R. Ganiger, and other police personnel.
