Beltangady: 85 kg of illegal beef seized from auto-rickshaw; case registered

Beltangady, Oct 24, 2025: Police in Beltangady have seized 85 kg of beef that was being illegally transported in an auto-rickshaw, following a raid carried out on credible information.

Acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted an auto-rickshaw arriving from Killuru Road at Layila Junction on Thursday, October 23. On spotting the police, the driver—identified as 27-year-old Hakeem from Layila—fled the scene.


Illegal beef

Upon inspection, police found 85 kg of beef inside the vehicle. The seized auto-rickshaw, estimated to be worth around ₹2.5 lakh, along with the beef, has been taken into custody.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady Police Station under Section 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020.
