Belman girl wins gold at International Karate championship

Karkala, Dec 31,2012 :  Belman’s talented Karatekar has brought laurels for her hometown by winning a gold and a silver medal in an international championship.

Ranjita Poojari, a student of St Joseph’s High School, Belman has made her parents, her teachers and her town proud by winning gold  in Kata and bronze in Kumite categories at the Budakan National Karate Championship 2012-13 held at New Delhi earlier this month. 

The event was organized by the New Delhi Budakan Karate Association and All India Karate Federation.

Ranjitha who is coached by Satish Poojari, has earlier won third place in the state level championship held at Udupi. She is the daughter of Ravi and Ramita Poojari of Belman.
