
Karkala, Sep 5, 2013 : Santosh Das alias Ghanashyamdas, the prime accused in the Moodbidri Siddantha Darshana Mandir theft case, has been produced before the Karkala court on September 4, Tuesday amid high security.
He has been sent to police custody upto September 10.
Santosh Das was arrested in connection with the burglary of antique idols worth several crores of rupees from the Basadi.
His interrogations also revealed that he was wanted in connection with the burglary form Ganga Jewellery in Karkala too. The police investigated in this direction following a complaint lodged by the jewellery owner Subhash Tingale.
The police therefore produced him before the court and sought his custody.
There is already a demand for a CBI probe into the Basadi burglary case. Reports have also suggested that some of the stolen idols were sold at Bangkok.
