Barke police seize e-cigarettes worth Rs.1.7 lakh, 4 held

Mangaluru, Aug 22, 2023: The Barke Police have conducted a raid and apprehended four individuals who were illicitly selling e-cigarettes at three shops in the Saibeen Complex in Lalbagh. Police raided three shops and seized e-cigarettes worth Rs 2.7 lakhs.

 

The detainees have been identified as Swathi (26), a resident of Sullia, Shivakumar (34) of Mannagudda, Hassan Sharif of Kuttar Padav and Rahmatullah of Jeppu. Cases have been filed against them under the e-cigarette prohibition law and COTPA regulations.

Among the detainees, two have been released on bail, while the other two have been summoned to court. Earlier, the same shops were raided on March 30 and e-cigarettes worth Rs 6.8 lac were seized then.
