
Bantwal, Jun 6, 2026: Bantwal Town Police have detained three persons in connection with an MDMA trafficking case and seized the narcotic substance valued at ₹7.64 lakh.
The accused have been identified as A. Zubair (39), a resident of Pudu, Bantwal; Mohammed Sawad (36), a resident of Sajip Munnur, Bantwal; and B.M. Rashid alias Marimuthu, a resident of B. Mooda, Bantwal.
Police seized 76.40 grams of MDMA worth approximately ₹7.64 lakh, along with drug consumption paraphernalia, three mobile phones, and the car allegedly used for transporting the narcotics.
Background of the Case
On the evening of June 4, Bantwal Town Police Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar Shetty and his team intercepted a car near the Melkar flyover for inspection. The vehicle was occupied by the driver and two passengers.
During the search, police found equipment used for consuming psychotropic substances. Upon questioning, the occupants reportedly admitted that they were transporting MDMA with the intention of selling it at a higher price.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and the accused led to the recovery of MDMA and drug-use paraphernalia. Police have initiated further legal proceedings in connection with the case.
