Bantwal: Three arrested for allegedly assaulting man with machete, iron rod

Bantwal, Sep 26, 2026: Bantwal Rural Police have arrested three men in connection with the alleged assault of a man using a machete and an iron rod in Tenka Bellur village.

According to the complaint filed by Prashanth Belchad, 41, a resident of Tenka Bellur, the incident occurred at Kammaje in Tenka Bellur village on the evening of September 20.

As per the complaint, Prashanth, 38, from Ammunje; Ramdas, 43, from Tenka Bellur; and Shankar, 45, from Badaga Bellur, allegedly arrived at the spot in an autorickshaw and attacked Prashanth Belchad with a machete and an iron rod.

The victim suffered serious bleeding injuries and was later admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment, police said. The accused allegedly fled the spot after noticing people known to the injured man approaching.

A case was registered at Bantwal Rural Police Station under Sections 109, 352, 351 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following an investigation, police arrested the three accused. They were produced before a court on September 25, which granted three days of police custody for further interrogation, police said.

Further investigation is underway.
