The thieves   later escaped with a Pulsar bike parked in front of the house.

It is learnt, the thieves entered the house of PS Abdul Razak at Nehru  Nagar by breaking the latch of the back door and robbed  gold jewels weighing 15 sovereigns and a cash of Rs 19.6 lakhs  after breaking the cupboard in the room where Abdul Razak and his wife were sleeping.

The suspicion is that the thieves might have  sprayed some intoxicant to leave them drowsy while making their task easy.

Razak who owns the PS Brand Beedi industry had reportedly brought the cash home to purchase raw materials and to disburse salary to the workers.

It is a surprise that the theft took place even when there were several houses in the vicinity. Razak has announced a reward of Rs one lakh to anyone providing information regarding the burglars.

Senior police officials visited the spot. Investigations are underway.
