Bantwal: Thief poses as electrician, steals gold and cash from house

Bantwal, Nov 27, 2025: A thief posing as an electrical repairman entered the house of Deeksheet in Deraje, Sajipanadu village, and stole 7 grams of gold worth ₹42,000 along with ₹6,000 in cash.

At the time, only a woman named Sarojini was at home while the other family members had gone to attend a wedding in Panemangalore. Between 2 pm and 3 pm, an unknown man arrived claiming that Deeksheet had asked him to repair the electrical wiring and lights in the house. Believing his words, Sarojini allowed him inside.

The man pretended to carry out repairs and then stole the gold and cash kept in a bag under the cot in the bedroom. A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station.
