All shops and business establishments in the village have downed shutters. Even autorickshaws are off the roads.

Locals have been strongly opposing the setting up of the dumping yard at Kanchinadka since a decade. In the past they had even prevented several lorries which had come there to dump the wastes.

Following the recent orders of the Puttur TMC administrative officer and Mangaluru AC  Madan Mohan to begin  waste processing at the yard, a lorry had arrived at the place on Wednesday. The locals who got hint of the same had waylaid the lorry and had  staged a protest.  However, the TMC had managed to dump the waste using police force. Even the Sajipanadu Gram Panchayat President Muhmmad Nasir and other members who were protesting were detained by the police and later released.
