Bantwal Railway Station Redevelopment Completed, PM Modi Likely to Inaugurate on July 17

Bantwal, July 12, 2026: The Rs 26.18-crore redevelopment of Bantwal railway station has been completed under the second phase of the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to virtually dedicate the upgraded station to the nation on July 17.

Modi had virtually laid the foundation stone for the project in 2024. Bantwal is among four railway stations in the South Western Railway zone that have undergone comprehensive modernisation under the scheme.

The redevelopment has transformed the station into a modern, passenger-friendly transit hub with upgraded waiting halls, ticket booking counters, expanded seating, improved circulating areas, and dedicated vehicle drop-off and pick-up zones.

The project also includes full-length platform shelters, renovated platforms and interiors, modern furniture, enhanced LED lighting, landscaping, new entrance and exit arches, platform name boards, digital coach and train indication boards, improved signage, a modern public address system, and upgraded clocks.

A total of 75 railway stations across the country, including four in the South Western Railway zone, have been redeveloped under the second phase of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. According to sources, Prime Minister Modi is likely to virtually inaugurate all 75 stations on July 17.

The upgraded Bantwal railway station is expected to significantly improve passenger convenience, safety, accessibility and the overall travel experience.
