Bantwal: Moving lorry carrying scrap materials catches fire at Melkar

Bantwal, May 18, 2026: A moving lorry caught fire at Melkar in Bantwal taluk on Sunday.

The lorry, registered in Bengaluru, was travelling from Mangaluru towards Bengaluru when the fire broke out at Melkar.

According to reports, a short circuit from a battery kept inside the vehicle carrying scrap materials is suspected to have caused the blaze.

The scrap goods loaded in the lorry were completely destroyed in the fire. Personnel from the Bantwal Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames.
