Bantwal: Attempted burglary at Canara Bank branch; case registered

Bantwal, July 14, 2026: An attempt was made to burgle the Canara Bank branch located in the Minejes Plaza Complex at Farangipete under the jurisdiction of the Bantwal Rural Police Station. A case has been registered.

According to police, unidentified burglars attempted to break into the bank on Monday night. The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when bank staff arrived and opened the premises. The accused are believed to have gained entry into the bank by cutting through the roof.

 

Police from the Bantwal Rural Police Station, along with fingerprint experts and the Scene of Crime (SOCO) team, visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

Preliminary investigation revealed that no cash or other valuables were stolen from the bank.

Police said further details would emerge after a detailed examination of the premises. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
