Bank of Baroda Chairman M. D. Mallya inaugurates ninth branch

Mangalore, Oct. 27, 2012: Chairman and MD of Bank of Baroda M. D. Mallya inaugurated its ninth branch near Pumpwell on Oct 27, Saturday.

In his address, Mallya expressed confidence that the new branch will further facilitate development of trade and commerce in Mangalore.

Further, he said that the Bank of Baroda is reinforcing its commitment to work in partnership with the state and speed up its economic development while simultaneously transforming its services to align with customer aspirations. The bank currently has a network of 80 branches with 33 on site and 19 off site ATMs.

As part of bank’s overall emphasis on customer centricity, credit processing and its delivery system has been centralized with retail/SME loan factories operating on assembly line principles that are well geared to serve individuals/entrepreneurs more efficiently and quickly. It has a strong network of technology-led alternate delivery channels to provide round the clock access to the banking service in the comfort of customers’ home through net banking/mobile banking/ electronic transfer of funds on real time basis. The customer services, after sale service and wealth management services have also been put on fast track by linking them to dedicated city sales/city back offices manned by specially trained employees.

The bank has been coordinating with the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), State Enterprises, Corporate Sector, Industrial Parks, IT Hubs and Infrastructure Units, to offer specialized funding/advisory services. Moreover, the bank is actively engaged in the socio-economic transformation of the state with its financial inclusion efforts. The bank has engaged 13 business correspondents in 13 villages allocated to it. The bank is able to provide to the state the benefits of its overseas presence in 24 countries across the globe.

He also said that the newly opened branch is the third in the city, ninth in the district, and eighty-first in the state. The bank’s branch in Hampankatta is 50 years old; besides, the bank has branches in Lady Hill and now near Pumpwell. It also has 47 million customers around the globe, he said.
