Bakrid meals lead to communal clash in sub jail

Mangalore, Oct 26, 2012: Two groups belonging to different religious communities had a fight in the Mangalore Sub Jail on Oct 26.
Since it was the eve of Bakrid, a special non vegetarian meal was brought for the Muslim prisoners. Other religious groups protested against this, which led to the clash. The two groups began throwing stones and tiles at one another.
The police have beefed up security following this incident. Senior police officers visited the jail and said that things are now back under control.
