
Mangalore, Mar 8, 2011: The Lokayukta net has fallen over Subhash Chandra, the Bajpe police head constable, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from Ashraf of Belthangady.




Jagamayyanavar, the Lokayukta superintendent of police, said that Ashraf had lodged a complaint that the head constable was demanding Rs. 1 lakh to return his passport. According to Uday Naik, a Lokayukta police officer, Ashraf is employed in the gulf and has to return soon. He said that the policeman had held Ashraf’s passport and was demanding Rs 1 lakh for it.
The Lokayukta acted on the complaint and caught the police head constable red handed.
