Mangalore, Jan 27, 2014 : If political pundits were guessing that former CM BS Yeddyurappa who recently rejoined the BJP would contest from Shimoga LS constituency, the latter has turned upside down all speculations by stating on January 26, Sunday that “Neither I nor my son will contest the Lok Sabha polls.”

Interestingly, such a statement comes from the former chief minister while he was in the city in Mangalore to take part in various programmes. Yeddyurappa who had to take part in the Republic day function at Shikaripura on Sunday, had arrived in the city on Saturday night itself to participate in various party programmes. On Sunday morning, he attended the R Day celebrations at the Kadri park organised by Lions Club and Walker Club,
Sp;eaking to reporters on the sidelines of the function, he said the BJP would choose an ideal candidate from Shimoga constituency and that all efforts would be made to secure the win of the candidate. He said he would go on a state wide tour to strengthen the party.
To a question if he wished to be a Rajya Sabha member, Yeddyurappa said he has not yet taken any decision and added strengthening the BJP was his only aim at present.
