Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, June 6, 2011: The district unit of the BJP organized a 24-hour protest in front of Town Hall on June 6 Monday, condemning the midnight attack on Baba Ramdev and his followers at Ramleela Maidan.

Anwar Manipady, the state minorities’ president, said in his protest speech that saints have been passing on Indian wisdom from generation to generation and that attacking such saints is to be condemned since they are incarnations of god. Stating that the central government sent 10,000 CRF officers to attack protestors at Ramleela Maidan and did not even spare the women and children, he said that this is because the central government has been looting the country for the past 60 years.

Alleging that the central government had engineered this attack on Baba to prevent facts of various scams such as 2G Spectrum scam and Commonwealth Games scam from rising to the surface, he said that all Baba had done was to launch a nationwide anti-corruption campaign in a bid to implement tougher laws against corruption and to bring back the black money stashed in various foreign banks to India.

The people of India, especially the followers of Baba Ramdev, will never forgive the central government for this act.

MCC corporators, Sathish Kumpala, ZP President Shailaja Bhat, and others were also present.
