BJP national medical wing to conduct free medical camp

Mangalore, Dec 13, 2011 : The national medical wing of BJP will conduct a free medical camp for senior citizens in the Bharat Scouts and Guides Bhavan in Mannagudda, Mangalore on Dec 25.

Dr. K. Mohandas Bhandary, the working committee member of the BJP national medical wing, said that patients can consult experienced doctors free of charge. Some of the doctors present will be Dr. Prasanna, Dr. Mukund, Dr. Prashanth Marla, and Dr. Mohan Pai.

This camp is being conducted in honor of the birth anniversary of A. B. Vajapayee, the senior BJP leader and former prime minister. The camp will offer free medical tests such as blood pressure, blood sugar, ECG, scanning, and others. Some medicines are also available free of cost, he added.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will inaugurate the medical camp in the presence of Deputy Speaker Yogesh Bhat, BJP District President Padmanabha Kottari, and District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar. 
 
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Bhandary said that India spent just 1.6 percent of its GDP on healthcare, owing to which private healthcare institutions have boomed. He also said that the BJP national medical wing has discussed healthcare issues at a national meet in Jaipur and is making plans to include it in its election manifesto.

Rajagopal Rai, the media head of the district BJP; S. L. Bharadwaj, the administrator of Omega Hospital; several druggists and chemists; and Chandrashekar Bhandary were present.
