Mangalore, Dec 17, 2011 : The fact that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is one of the people who signed a letter to the BJP high command seeking the replacement of B. S. Yeddyurappa as the chief minister of Karnataka has given rise to a controversy.

nalin Kumar 1It may be recalled that Nalin Kumar Kateel is the representative of the constituency, which was represented previously by CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda, while the CM is now representing Udupi – Chikmagalur.

Mr. Kateel however has rubbished the allegations. He says that certain MPs and Yeddyurappa had approached him and asked him to sign the letter, which informed the BJP high command that B. S. Yeddyurappa continues to be a BJP leader, owing to which he should be given a respectable post within the party. He says that he would not have signed the letter if there was any request in it to replace B. S. Yeddyurappa as the CM.

He said that Yeddyurappa had arrived at New Delhi to update the BJP high command about the cases pending against him in court and that the MPs had spoken about writing a letter in his support. He also clarified that Yeddyurappa had never expressed any desire to replace DVS as CM, but had spoke about making DVS victorious in the council by-polls of Dec 22.

He also said that Anant Kumar and Prahlad Joshi were not present at the time, and if they were, they too would have signed the letter.
