
Udupi, Aug 31, 2013 : Former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to visit areca plantations which are affected by Kole disease that has incurred huge losses to the growers.



He was speaking after visiting the areca plantations of Kush Shetty in Shirva Nyarma and Bittu Poojari of Mudarangady Pilar which have suffered losses due to the disease.
“ Dear CM, do not forget that you have been made the chief minister by the voters of the state including the farmers and not the high command of your party. Instead of making visits to Delhi, visit the areca plantations and take a first hand look into the problems of growers,” he said and urged the chief minister to announce relief package for the growers.
Former deputy CM KS Eshwarappa, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojari, former MLAs Nagaraj Shetty, Lalaji R Mendon and several BJP leaders were present.
