Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on March 20, Wednesday, he said the erratic power cuts have put the student community which is busy preparing for exams, to complete hardships.

He said the government has completely failed to handle the situation. On the government citing shortage of coal for failure to generate power , he questioned why the government made no arrangements to procure coal in advance. He also declared that the Congress, if elected to power in the next assembly elections would solve the power problem on a priority basis.

Khader  further drew the attention of the authorities towards the  harassment of passport applicants at the passport office in Mangalore and urged for steps to prevent the same.

He pointed out how the witnesses in passport applications are summoned for needless cross-checking and how the applicants  are asked to get  a ‘round seal’ for authorisation of their documents such as birth certificate, caste certificate and other documents necessary to apply for passports, while there was no such practice of using round seals in the district.

Zilla Panchayat member N S Kareem, APMC member Santhosh Kumar, Mangalore taluk panchayat member Musthafa were present.
