BJP-Congress workers clash in Mani, two injured

Bantwal, May 24, 2023: A group of unidentified individuals reportedly assaulted workers affiliated with the BJP and Bajrang Dal using sticks at Mani Junction on Wednesday, May 24.

The injured victims have been identified as Mahendra, the convener of Bajrang Dal in Peraje, and Prashanth Naik, a BJP worker. Both individuals were promptly admitted to a private hospital in Puttur for medical treatment. The incident took place while they were traveling on a motorcycle at Mani Junction. The assailants, who arrived in an Omni car, reportedly assaulted them using sticks.

Initially, it was reported that a clash had erupted between workers of the BJP and Congress parties during the celebratory event for the Bantwal MLA’s victory. In response, Congress workers allegedly targeted BJP and Bajrang Dal workers. However, subsequent information from police sources revealed that the altercation was not politically motivated but rather stemmed from a minor dispute, unrelated to party rivalries.

The assailants have been identified as Rakesh, Manjunath and Mahalinga Naik. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the matter to gather further details and ascertain the motives behind the assault.
