BBM student caught cheating in exam commits suicide

Udupi, Apr 14, 2012 : A student of II BBM in Madhava Pai Memorial College in Manipal committed suicide on April 13 Friday after she was caught cheating in her exams.

 

The deceased is Blanche D’Souza (20), the daughter of Jacintha and Benedict D’Souza who are working in Dubai. Blanche stays in a rented house at B. B. D’Souza Compound in Eshwar Nagar in Manipal with her elder sister Brial D’Souza.

On April 12 Thursday, Blanche was caught red-handed while cheating in the exam hall. The principal called her elder sister Brial and sent her home. Reportedly, Blanche felt insulted and hanged herself from the ceiling of her room on the night of Thursday. Brial found her in this condition when she woke up on Friday morning and immediately rushed her to the hospital. The doctors, however, declared Blanche dead on arrival.

Brial, who collapsed because of the stress, did not regain consciousness till the night of Friday. Their parents are expected to arrive today.

Alphonse Cutinho, the maternal uncle of the two girls, has lodged a complaint at the Manipal Police Station.
