
Mangalore, Oct 15, 2012: M. B. Sadashiv, president of the District JD(S), said that the presence of B. Nagaraj Shetty has strengthened the party.
Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Maya International on Oct 15, Monday, M. B. Sadashiv said that the JD(S) has formed a special committee to welcome new members into the party and dismiss those who wish to leave in a bid to make the party more powerful.
He also announced that the JD(S) will organize a convention at Town Hall at 10:30 a.m. on Oct 29 to reconstruct the party and welcome its new members.
Speaking on the occasion, Amarnath Shetty, former minister and senior JD(S) leader, said that only united efforts on the part of JD(S) leaders can strengthen the party.
The JD(S) now has 3 vice presidents—Nagaraj Shetty, Sushil Noronha, and Amarnath Shetty. Mr. Shetty presented the post of vice president to Nagaraj Shetty on behalf of H. D. Kumaraswamy, president of the Karnataka State JD(S).
Speaking on the occasion, B. Nagaraj Shetty said that JD(S) leaders have given him the post of vice president although he never asked for it. He assured everybody that he will accept all his responsibilities willingly. He also stated that he will not contest any election, but will focus on strengthening the party and working for the welfare of the backward classes and the poor sections of society.
JD(S) leaders M. G. Hegde, Sushil Noronha, Jayalakshmi Alva, and Hyder Parthipady were also present.
