Azharuddin, the accused in Kukkatte rape attempt arrested

Mangalore, Jul 16: Azharuddin, the accused in the rape attempt of a woman at Mogaru - kukkatte in Ganjimutt was arrested by the Bajpe police on Thursday, July 15. A woman had complained Azaruddin 18, of attempting to rape her and was admitted to SCS Hospital of serious injuries on July 14 Thursday.

She had told that her neighbour, Azharuddin had come to her house on pretext of borrowing some vegetables. She gave him what he wanted. However Azarrudin stayed back talking pleasantries.  He expressed his desire to see her newborn baby. When she turned around to get the child, he caught hold of her and tried to embrace her.  When she screamed, he tore her cloths and put his hand over her mouth, pulled her hair, and rammed her head against the wall.


Azharuddin later fled from the scene and was absconding. The police assumed that he was hiding in Kukkatte, but could not locate him. The police say that Azharuddin returned home,  changed his clothes, and fled to Kuppepadav.
Acting on a tip of, Police arrested Azaruddin near a shop in Padrengi in Yedapadavu on Friday.


The police team, which handled this case, was led by ACP Puttamadhaiah, Panambur Circle Inspector Valentine D’Souza, and Bajpe Sub Inspector Ananth Murudeshwar.
