Mangalore, Nov 17, 2013: Ayesha Banu and her husband Jubair who were arrested from their residence at Panjimogaru in Mangalore in connection with a Hawala racket, have been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by a District Court at Patna on November 16, Saturday.
The two were earlier taken to Bihar after the JMF Court in Mangalore issued a transit warrant against the two.
An FIR against the two was later lodged at Lakshisarai in Bihar. Ayesha Banu is said to be involved in a hawala racket with Pakistan link. Even her husband Jubair who ran a beedi branch was reportedly part of the illegal activity.
It is said the duo were arrested following at tip off by the NIA which has been investigating into the Patna and Bodh Gaya blast case.Investigations have revealed that she used to get instructions from Pakistan where some agents used to deposit money in some bank accounts opened in the name of some persons who were lured into the racket by paying them Rs 2000 each. The cash from these accounts were then withdrawn and deposited to other accounts as per instructions from some racketeers in Pakistan.
The Lakhisarai Police have already arrested four others in Bihar in connection with the case and have seized several passbooks, cheque books and ATM cards.
