Last week, Abdul Sattar (38) of BC Road collected a bag of valuables, which Lalitha Salian had forgotten at the BC Road Bus Stand by mistake. He then alerted Ms. Salian, who had already boarded a bus to Bangalore by that time. Pleased with his honesty, Ms. Salian and her family members offered to reward him, but he refused to accept it.

On Nov 10, Vijaya Rao, lecturer at SVS College in Bantwal, boarded Mr. Sattar’s rickshaw and asked to be taken to Narikombu. However, she forgot her bag containing a gold chain, cash, and a mobile phone in the auto rickshaw. Since she knew where Mr. Sattar lived, she went to his house with her husband and got his mobile number. When she contacted Mr. Sattar, he immediately searched for the bag in his autorickshaw and returned it to the couple. He refused to accept any reward for his honesty.

Mr. Sattar has done a number of good deeds in his life. Once he had jumped into the River Nethravathi to save a female child, thrown into the river by her own mother. The Koolya Swamiji had conferred the title of Nethravathi Veera on him for his heroic deed.
