Anti-Niddodi stir: Huge vehicle rally taken out from Kinnigoli to Moodbidri

Mangalore, Oct 23, 2013: Lakshminarayana Asranna, Chief Priest of Kateel Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple has urged the government not to take the people’s movement against Niddodi project lightly.

Speaking after inaugurating a vehicle jatha from Kinnigoli to Moodbidri  opposing the proposed Niddodi thermal power project, he warned the government that the agitation against setting up of environmentally hazardous project in the coastal  region, would  be intensified if the government apathy continues.

He also called upon people to join the agitation by sinking all differences,

Fr William Martis, Parish Priest stressed the need for a united movement against such projects which would not only destroy fertile agricultural land, but also the  customs and traditions of the region.

The protest organised by the Mathra Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi of Niddodi was participated by Robert Rosario, Rotary Club President, Fr Alfred Pinto, Parish Priest of Kinnigoli Church, Bhuvanabirama Udupa of Yuga Purusha, Valerian Sequeira, President of Niddodi Catholic Sabha, Wilson D’Souza, President of Kinnigoli unit of Catholic Sabha, Kiran Manjanabailu, Convener of Mathra Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi and others.

Over 300 vehicles participated in the protest rally.
