Another Bhatkal man arrested; this time while smuggling gold in Oats tin

Mangalore, Feb 20, 2013: A man from Bhatkal found a novel way to smuggle gold to India from Dubai. He chose to conceal gold in a tin of Quaker Oats, but could not escape the strict eyes of the DRI sleuths. On February 20, Wednesday, DRI sleuths arrested this man identified as Abdul Ghani of Bhatkal who arrived by an Air India Express flight from Dubai.

 

Nearly 300 grams of gold which he had hidden in a tin of Oats were seized. Investigations are in progress.

Almost a week ago, another passenger by a Dubai bound flight was arrested for trying to smuggle six kg of gold in a chocolate box. This man too hailed from Bhatkal.
