Annual Lakshadeepotsava commences at Dharmasthala

Beltangady, Nov 21, 2011 : Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda, the deputy commissioner of DK district, inaugurated the 34th state-level exhibition at Dharmasthala on Nov 20 Sunday on the first day of its annual Lakshadeepotsava event.

He also expressed his appreciation of all the social service initiatives and educational services managed under the leadership and guidance of Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade. He also appreciated the efforts made to empower women through Siri self-employment schemes.

New products produced by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Siri Village Industries Society such as Siri Vatsalya, Siri Cornflakes, and Siri Atta were launched into the market by Hemavathi V. Heggade.

Presiding over the event, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade said that cottage industries, small scale industries, and rural artisans are now getting extinct because of large commercial malls and modernization. He said that rural products are facing stiff competition because of modern products from foreign markets. Simultaneously, farmers now have a better opportunity than ever to produce and market high quality products.

Dr. S. Prabhakar, the vice president of SDM Group of Educational Institutions; Dr. B. Yashovarma; and many others were present.


Dr. B. A. Kumar Hegde, the lecturer of SDM College, was the MC of the event. Panduranga Baliga delivered the welcome address and M. K. S. Prabhu, the director of RUDSET, proposed the vote of thanks.
