Annual Infant Jesus Feast celebrated grandly

Mangalore, Jan 14: The annual Infant Jesus Feast was celebrated grandly at the Infant Jesus Shrine of Bikarnakatte on Jan 14, Friday.

The festive mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Vincent Concessao, the archbishop of Delhi, with over 50 priests concelebrating. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, the spiritual director of St. Joseph’s inter diocesan seminary, preached the homily. Bro. Prakash D’Cunha animated the liturgy and Fr. George Santhumayor OCD, the superior, proposed the vote of thanks. The representatives of various youth associations of various deaneries participated in the liturgy.

Several masses were celebrated on the day by Fr. Stephen Pereira OCD; Fr. John Sequeira OCD, the director of Ryshivana; Fr. Biju; Fr. Archibald Gonsalves OCD, the provincial of Karnataka Goa Province of the Carmelite Order; Fr. Alban D’Souza, the parish priest of Pakshikeri Church; Fr. William Martis; and Fr. S. Abbu D’Souza, SVD. Over 25,000 devotees of Infant Jesus participated in the masses, which were held all day. The festive mass alone attracted a 12,000-strong crowd.

The feast was preceded by nine days of novena, and each day was dedicated to themes such as zeal for repentance and reconciliation, zeal for justice, zeal for evangelization, and so on and was dedicated to social groups such as children, workers, benefactors, youth, missionaries, and so on.
